Naweed Kabir

Naweed mid-scream at the snare, sticks crossed, hair thrown across his face.

I play thrash with Karmant, and for ten years I’ve filmed the drummers of Bangladesh’s metal scene from behind their kits.

Behind the kit since 2014.

Karmant has played new wave thrash out of Dhaka since 2016. I took the throne in 2020.

  2. Riot in Uniform 5:11
  3. Greed 4:07
  4. General Destroyer 5:26

Named for 2018, when a speeding bus killed two students in Dhaka and school kids in uniform took the roads, stopping traffic and checking drivers’ licences themselves, because nobody else was. Four songs, out three years later.

A life ended before it began refuses to go. It returns as the General Destroyer and works upward: the strongman, the institution that blesses him, the machinery that made them both. Eight tracks of Bangladeshi thrash, written as one story, still sealed.

From my throne.

Karmant · Slaughter Excursion Live drum cam, 2026 · 1:36 Filmed over my shoulder, the way I film every drummer on Cloven Hoof BD.

Every part starts slow, one bar at a time, until it sits. Then it gets played loud.

Naweed facing the camera in a black shirt, hair down past his shoulders.

Only the kit sees it.

Life is hard enough on its own. Whatever is left over goes into the kit: the aggression, and the rest of what I’d rather not carry around. It doesn’t fix anything. It was never going to.

Nobody needs to see the dark side of a person.
The kit doesn’t care.

On stage

Mid-song through stage smoke, hair flying above the cymbals.
At the kit under stage lights, a brick wall behind.
Shirtless at the kit in a dark room, the sticks a blur.
Playing in front of a wall painted with skulls.
Head down under a China cymbal at Bangladesh Thrashfest.
Behind the kit in a red-lit room, mid-stroke, hair thrown back.

Champion of Grooves.

On 21 September 2025, I won the drum solo contest at Drum Master Class Session 01. The judge was Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo, drummer of Miles, who also ran the session.

It has been on the kitchen counter ever since.

Stereo Flash

–

We played heavy metal the way the early eighties did, raised on Maiden, Priest, Sabbath and Motörhead. We covered Iron Maiden, Virtue, Tokyo Blade and many more bands from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

Stereo Flash will always be standing strong, holding up the fist of steel high!

The band’s bio

It stood until 2017.

Side B: Cloven Hoof BD

Ten years of drum cams, shot and posted by one person. The first channel of its kind in Bangladesh.

Seen from above and behind: Naweed inside a studio kit ringed with cymbals.
Recording the drums for Hack & Slash on 16 April 2026, the day before my engagement. I recorded eight tracks in eight hours.
  1. October 2016

I started in October 2016, pointing a camera at drummers from the one angle nobody else takes: over the shoulder, inside the cockpit. Every drummer has a universe of their own back there. You see the part the way it actually gets played.

  2. Since then

Underground bands and established ones. I film, cut, mix and upload every video myself, and have done for ten years.

  3. 2023

In 2023, the channel was one of four organisers of Bangladesh Thrashfest, the first concert in the country given entirely to thrash.

Miles · Neela Live at St. Joseph, 2017 · drum cam The channel’s most-watched video. Turjo on drums: eight years later he judged the contest I won.

Naweed from behind, shirtless, sticks tucked into a bullet belt, one hand raised.

That’s the tape. Nothing after this but hiss, so take one of these on the way out.
